Job Summary
The MIT Infrastructure Senior Engineer is responsible for managing and maintaining IT infrastructure systems that support manufacturing operations. This role ensures system availability, reliability, and performance while supporting integration between IT systems and industrial equipment. The position also involves leading infrastructure projects, managing vendors, and supporting budget planning.
Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain IT infrastructure systems supporting manufacturing operations, including servers, storage, virtualization platforms, and network infrastructure.
- Ensure high availability, reliability, and performance of IT systems supporting production lines and manufacturing applications.
- Monitor and manage network infrastructure, including switches, routers, firewalls, and wireless networks.
- Oversee virtual server environments (VMware and Hyper-V) to ensure optimal resource utilization and system stability.
- Support and maintain database platforms such as Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server used by manufacturing systems.
- Coordinate with engineering and manufacturing teams to support integration between IT systems and industrial equipment (e.g., PLC, AI inspection systems, MES, etc.).
- Lead incident troubleshooting and perform root cause analysis for infrastructure-related issues impacting production.
- Manage IT vendors and service providers for infrastructure-related services and support.
- Lead and manage IT infrastructure projects, including network upgrades, server deployments, and data center improvements.
- Plan and coordinate project timelines, resources, and deliverables to ensure successful implementation.
- Support planning and management of IT infrastructure budgets (CAPEX and OPEX).
- Monitor and control operational expenses related to maintenance, licenses, and support contracts.
Requirements
- Minimum 5–8 years of experience in IT Infrastructure or System Engineering
- Experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment is highly preferred
- Proven experience managing IT infrastructure projects (e.g., server deployment, network upgrades, data center improvements)
- Experience in vendor coordination and project implementation
- Hands-on experience with Cisco networking devices
- Experience with Allied Telesis switches is a plus
Strong knowledge of:
- VLAN
- Routing and switching
- Network segmentation
- Network redundancy and troubleshooting
- Strong experience with VMware vSphere / ESXi
- Experience with Microsoft Hyper-V
- Knowledge of Windows Server administration
- Able to communicate in English (TOEIC Scores at least 400)
Skills
Network Infrastructure
