Job Summary

The incumbent is responsible for overseeing the Accounting matters and Financial Internal Controls of the Singapore entities Bridgestone Asia Pacific (BSAP) and Bridgestone Singapore (BSTSG), and to train and lead the SG Accounting Team through the transformation of the team from Processing to Business Support and Controllership. This role will also contribute to the SAP Central Finance Project as a subject matter expert with the best practices experience and knowledge on Entity Accounting as base guidelines for BSCAP Group Companies.


Key responsibilities include, but not limited to:


(A) Controlling and Accounting

  • Ensure accuracy of the accounting and control information held in and reported from the organization’s accounting system and understand the financial data flowing from other sub-systems
  • Drive and manage controlling and accounting activities through people management and to ensure the Accounting department could meet business and functional objectives
  • Establish, implement and maintain effective control and operations in information systems to ensure proper reporting to the management
  • Lead and oversee the management of internal control as per approved operating procedures, policies and guidelines including its financial policy design
  • Ensure effective and efficient Segregation of Duties in the organization
  • Ensure timeline and accurate submission of financial and statistical information for statutory purposes for each subsidiary and operation such as filing of Audited Income Statements, filing of Tax Returns etc.
  • Ensure timely and accurate submission of monthly management accounts and financial information to Group, including ad-hoc analysis and reporting from time to time
  • Review, maintain and manage all Banking arrangements and related controls and processes for strong control environment


(B) Financial & Management Reporting


  • Continuous review of financial, control and management information systems and procedures
  • Update, review and document organization’s financial policies and procedures
  • Maintain and manage evolutions of the reporting tools in collaboration with FP&A and IT
  • Drive the local reporting process and ensure that all statutory matters are in compliance with the laws and regulations at all times, including accounting, tax and other financial transactions
  • Timely reporting of complete and accurate financial results in accordance with IFRS and other reporting standards requirements
  • Proactively managing all financial risks of the Singapore entities


(C) Process Improvements


  • Plan and implement shared Controlling and Accounting processes within all Singapore entities.
  • Assess processes with a keen eye to improve operating efficiencies while maintaining adequate internal controls.
  • Provide superior support to team in continuously improving the financial reporting process.
  • Simplify reporting and monthly/quarterly/yearly end closing calendar through existing and new tools.


(D) People Development

  • Leading a team that will provide a proactive and effective service to the business stakeholders through ongoing capability development of the team
  • Accountable and responsible for team capability development, upskilling and review team fit in terms of teamwork and collaboration
  • Responsible to drive performance driven culture, to reward performer and manage underperformer
  • Accountable for teams’ constructive feedback to raise team performance for continuous improvement


(E) Global/ Region/ Local Initiatives

  • Participate in Global / Region Finance special projects, including SAP Central Finance regional roll-out.
  • Drive change and make proposals for process solutions and resolve complex accounting issues/treatments.
  • Liaise, coordinate and collaborate with other market based group entities where applicable.


  • Degree in Accountancy or equivalent, such as ACCA or its equivalent discipline.
  • At least 10 years relevant finance experience in multinational environment and possess track record in regional capacity/ scale, including at least 3 years in Finance Internal Controllership / Accounting managerial role.
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge on International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
  • Must have working knowledge on of SAP FI, CO and BPC module. System implementation experience would have added advantageous.
  • High proficiency and strong knowledge in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
  • Excellent written, oral communication and interpersonal skills in working with internal stakeholders (subsidiaries, senior management, etc.) and external stakeholders (auditors, consultants, etc.) in cross cultural, highly matrix environment.
