About the Role

Are you ready to lead a high-performing payroll team in a dynamic, multinational organisation? As Payroll Team Lead, you’ll take ownership of end-to-end payroll operations across Australia and New Zealand, ensuring accuracy, compliance, timeliness and exceptional service delivery.

 

This is a hands-on leadership role where you’ll:

  • Oversee payroll processing for multiple entities and pay cycles.
  • Ensure compliance with legislation and complex enterprise agreements.
  • Conduct reporting and auditing activities.
  • Deliver exemplary customer service.
  • Drive process improvements and system optimisation.
  • Coach and develop payroll team members, fostering a collaborative and high-performing team culture.
  • Collaborate with HR, Finance, and IT to align payroll with business needs.
  • Support the Manager, HRIS & Payroll to deliver strategic initiatives.

Your work will directly contribute to operational excellence and support strategic initiatives that make a real impact across the BSANZ Group.

About You

You’re a confident leader with a passion for precision and people. You thrive in fast-paced environments and have a knack for turning complexity into clarity. To succeed in this role, you’ll bring:

  • Expertise: 5+ years of high-volume, end-to-end payroll experience.
  • Leadership: Proven ability to coach, mentor, and build team capability.
  • Knowledge: Strong understanding of Australian and New Zealand payroll legislation and compliance. Sound experience in interpreting company policies, procedures and relevant legislation, industrial awards or Enterprise Agreements.
  • Skills: Advanced Excel, analytical thinking, and exceptional attention to detail. Strong problem-solving, planning and organisational skills, with a demonstrated ability to meet deadlines.
  • Systems: Experience with SAP HR/Payroll systems, whilst not essential, would be beneficial to this position, along with HRIS maintenance.
    The ability to extract relevant data from systems is required in this position.
  • Communication: Clear, professional, and collaborative approach with stakeholders at all levels. Tact and discretion when dealing with people and confidential information. Strong oral and written communication skills to share ideas, present information and provide clear and concise emails and reports.
