Legal Counsel

Job Summary

We are looking for a highly qualified individual to oversee the legal and compliance aspects of our business. You will safeguard our reputation by guaranteeing that the company strictly follows applicable laws/regulations and internal policies/guidelines. You will also provide timely and precise legal advice to management about all relevant issues.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

  • The candidate will be responsible for setting the strategy and directions of legal function in conjunction with providing support to the business within the organization working closely with the regional head office. This will be translated to deliverable items in the annual budget plans.
  • The candidate will also build, develop and sustain the team and its capabilities to deliver professional legal advice to the business
  • The candidate will provide on-going coaching and support to the team to ensure high deliverables
  • This role will provide the management and relevant stakeholders with pro-active legal advice and services by diligently identifying legal risks/issues
  • The candidate will provide various legal services such as help to draft and review contracts and legal documents
  • The candidate will also be required to liaise with public sectors and organizations as required
  • The candidate will champion compliance, provide compliance awareness trainings and inculcate the compliant culture within the organization
  • The candidate will manage and monitor the regional whistle-blowing system
  • The candidate will coordinate with outside counsel to handle litigations/mediation/enforcement of court decisions
  • The candidate will act as the secretariat of the BOD Meeting and shareholders’ Meeting
  • The candidate will conduct corporate registration
  • The candidate will manage and work with relevant external law firms
  • The candidate will work contribute to the regional legal and compliance teams as well as global legal and compliance projects.

Requirements

  • An LL.M. Degree from reputable law school is a must (overseas diploma and foreign experience is a plus)
  • At least 8 years of relevant working experience
  • Proficient in reading, writing and speaking English and Mandarin (TOEIC: 750 or iBT TOEFL: 75 is required)
  • Strong experience for contract reviewing and negotiating
  • Sufficient experience for legal and compliance training
  • Adequate business acumen and understanding of market situation
  • Solid ability to lead and motivate staff to achieve and attain higher order outcomes
  • Results oriented and strong team player
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong integrity and positive personality
